HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED AND/OR MY PARTNER NEEDS COUNSELING?
Chances are if you are asking this question, you probably have been thinking about counseling for a while. I can authentically tell you yes, you can learn new skills, learn more about yourself, have a greater understanding of your needs through one-on-one counseling. Going to counseling totally changed my life, so much so that I went back to school and became a counselor. DO YOU OFFER PRE-MARITAL COUNSELING?
Yes, discussing issues before marriage that you may be struggling with can best be resolved when discussed with a third impartial person. My purpose is to moderate, clarify and support the issues that need to be discussed. WHAT IF I WANT TO COME IN TO COUNSELING BUT MY PARTNER/SPOUSE IS RELUCTANT? IS IT STILL OK TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
By all means, if this question describes your situation, come in. In our first session, you may be able to learn some new skills in communicating your feelings and needs in a manner which your partner may find more welcoming and hopeful to your success as a couple. WHAT IF I HAVE PARENTING ISSUES?
Most couples and parents do. Part of couples therapy focuses on how to minimize the effects of marital challenges on children. I have also worked with couples who decided to divorce and want help in how to support their children during the divorce. |
DO YOU SPECIALIZE IN WORKING WITH COUPLES?
Couples counseling makes up a large percentage of my practice, and I find it has exponential benefits for individuals and families. For both couples and individuals, I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, providing services that span from therapy for depression to anxiety and loss. Friends and family are terrific support systems. Talking to a therapist differs in a few ways. For one, a discussion with me is totally confidential. Another important way in which I differ from your friends and family is that I am non-judgmental and more objective in supporting you in your situation. Helping you to stay out of blame, judgment and guilt are important aspects of the work that will do together. WHEN ARE YOU AVAILABLE?
